Hi. I’m a thirty-one year old mother of a nearly two-year-old and soon to be a newborn. This blog will touch on those things. It will also touch on: homesteading, canning, pagan practices, crafting, soil improvement, the plans for our home and acreage, gardening, and anything else that tickles my fancy. Welcome!
February of this year saw my spouse and I purchasing our first home, with just under three and a quarter acres. We fell in love with the two bedroom A-frame pretty much immediately, and it has enough land for us to realize our dreams for becoming as close to self sufficient as possible without going overboard.
This year we have built three 4’x4′ square raised beds. We have had an unusually sudden transition into summer, which basically wrecked my broccoli. They were bolting before the head was even formed! This warmth and the moisture have also encouraged tobacco hornworms, cabbage loopers, and Japanese beetles to take great pleasure in my garden. Despite these setbacks, I feel confident we can continue to move forward toward having a solid food supply.
